PINKY's Story

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR UNUSUAL, FUN, LOVING AND SWEET...

...you should be looking for Pinky.

First off, before you go any further, if you have never heard of Xolos (Mexican Hairless) dogs, we highly recommend you do a little research before applying for Pinky. Their skin care regimen is critical and requires dedication.

If you are well versed in the Xolo, then Pinky would make an outstanding addition to just about any type of home where outside time is limited to potty breaks or walks while wearing protective clothing.

Pinky came to us when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her or the dozen other Xolo mixes he had been breeding. All were taken to the local shelter who reached out to local rescues for help, knowing that these dogs would not do well in a shelter setting. We were able to take two, placing one almost immediately, in a trusted former volunteer's, loving home.

Pinky is now ready as well.

Pinky is completely bald on her chest, tummy and the front of her neck. She has thin, coarse, short hair on her face, legs, ears and feet, and longer coarse hair on the top of her head, the back of her neck, and on her tail. Her back is mostly skin, with very few coarse short hairs. She came to us with some skin issues, similar to pimples on a teenage but responded beautifully to a couple baths with a special prescription shampoo from our veterinarian. Like most Xolos, Pinky loves wearing clothes, but we make sure to change them regularly, to avoid rubbing and chaffing in one area for too long. She is a heat seeker of the highest order and loves nothing more than to burrow under the covers or blankets with you. She is also quite playful, loves toys and playing with the smaller dogs in her foster home and will nibble on your hands and fingers, in excitement. It is always gently and meant as a sign of affection.

Pinky can be shy at first but warms up quickly. She crates nicely, is good on a leash but will hang back, like an anchor, in unfamiliar situations. She is housebroken and can and will hold it forEVER, so she does not have to go outside in the chilly, wet winter weather and sometimes even needs to be carried outside. She is so funny. Once she is outside, she frolics and plays and gets her business done then wants right back in. She did great at the vet and got a ton of attention from the techs and vets alike. She travels very well, curling up in the passenger seat and if you have heated seats, she will love the ride even more. Pinky has a good appetite and has not proven to be a fussy eater. She likes toys and treat time, movie snuggle time, appreciates a well bedded down crate filled with soft fleece blankets and thick soft beds, if she is to be crated at night but would REALLY love to share YOUR bed with you, if at all possible. She could come in handy if you have a pulled or sore muscles as she feels like a hot water bottle, laying next to you. Great for those chilly winter nights (hint hint you single ladies out there).

Pinky is about a year old and weighs 23lbs. She will need regular dental care, as Xolos are renown for dental issues, so this should be taken into consideration by anybody considering adoption. A good solid relationship with your vet, will be important. She LOVES baths and will sit in the grooming tub, sink or bucket, smiling up at you, as you massage her with warm water and shampoo. She dries in seconds, with a thirsty towel and then is ready for her jammies and a good snuggle session under the fleece couch blankets. She gives a new (and better) meaning to the term, "Netflix and Chill".

So if you like the unusual, are willing to do what it takes to keep her skin healthy and happy, her teeth clean and polished and her heart, happy and fulfilled, we would love for you to go to our website at www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org/adoption and fill out the application. She might be a bit more work but she is so kind and sweet and silly and fun, she is definitely worth the extra effort PLUS very minimal shedding, which is a big bonus.

Pinky is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, fecal tested and treated for intestinal parasites, flea and tick free, microchipped and ready to bring her special brand of love and fun to your life.

Adoption fee is $350

All Mutts Great and Small's Adoption Policy
We believe there are many different ways to be a successful dog owner. It is our intent to broaden the idea of happy dog/person relationships to go beyond the traditional. Our goal is to place people and dogs together with the intent being compatibility. We know these dogs and we want to match them with the person who will provide them with the best possible life. One they would have chosen themselves had they been able too. We do NOT have a standard list of "must haves", preferring to match dog with adopter. www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org
