Pimienta's Story
Pimienta / Male / 1 Year / 21 lbs / Terrier Mix / Good with Dogs / Good with Older Kids / No Cats Please / From Mexico / Fostered in Whitby

Pimienta’s story begins in the middle of a storm, literally. He was found abandoned in a vacant lot during a thunderstorm with his sister, cold, frightened, and searching for safety. While his sister sadly did not survive, Pimienta did, and he has carried that resilience forward, paired with an incredibly soft, loving heart that just wants to belong to someone.

He is the kind of dog who wears his emotions openly: sweet, affectionate, a little bit silly, and wonderfully endearing in all the best ways. Pimienta is known for greeting people with immediate kisses, gently nudging his head under your hand for pets, and resting his nose on your knee when he wants attention. He truly believes he is meant to be close to his people at all times, whether that’s curled up beside you or happily soaking in praise. There’s a slightly awkward charm to him, too, especially when he tries to play with other dogs and ends up standing a little too close or making the funniest little noises. He tries so hard, and it’s impossible not to love him for it.

With people he knows, Pimienta is affectionate, eager, and thrives on connection. With new people, he can be a little unsure at first. He may observe, move in for a cautious sniff, and then warm up at his own pace, but his natural friendliness shines through quickly. He has had limited exposure to children but has shown gentle curiosity, and with respectful, dog-savvy kids who understand boundaries, he is expected to do well.

Pimienta would do best in a home that matches his emotional needs just as much as his physical ones. He bonds deeply and prefers not to be alone for long periods, so a household where someone is home most of the day would help him feel safe and settled. He enjoys a mix of gentle activity and downtime, walks, chew toys, enrichment like Kongs or lick mats, and then plenty of cuddling. He has a low to medium energy level with the occasional burst of zoomies, and he walks nicely overall, though he can pull when excited or curious. He tends to be more comfortable in quieter, low-traffic environments.

He is social with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion, especially one who is patient and doesn’t mind his slightly quirky play style, as long as he still gets plenty of attention from his humans too. A home without cats would be best. He is still working on his training, including house training and basic commands, but he is food-motivated, eager to learn, and responds beautifully to gentle guidance and consistency.

Pimienta is looking for a home where he can feel secure, loved, and never left behind again. Someone who understands that he may need a little time, a little patience, and a lot of reassurance, but who will be rewarded with an incredibly devoted, affectionate companion in return.

He’s ready for a life filled with soft places to land, people to love, and a future that finally feels safe.

If you’re interested in adopting Pimienta, please apply at
https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form

Pimienta’s adoption fee is $850.
