She's had a tough beginning, so she's still very shy. She wants to meet people, but she's not quite brave enough for pets yet. Pike does great with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, stable canine companion who can help show her the ropes and demonstrate that love from people is a wonderful thing. Having another dog to lean on will help Pike continue building her confidence. She's sweet, gentle, housebroken and crate trained. Such a good girl who just needs patience and love to truly shine. She is a 4-year-old, approximately 50-pound Lab/Golden mix with a soft heart and an even softer spirit.<br/><br/>While Pike is still a bit nervous as she continues to learn that the world can be a safe place, she's come a long way. She happily accepts treats from volunteers and absolutely loves being petted once she feels comfortable. Her sweet nature truly shines through when given patience and kindness.<br/><br/>Because Pike is a flight risk, a secure, above-ground fenced yard is required, and a home without small children would be best for her comfort and safety.<br/><br/>Pike is ready for a loving home with a family who understands that healing takes time—and who can offer the patience, compassion, and unconditional love she deserves. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions. <br/><br/>It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. A litter of 4 week old puppies were found on the property and all had to be treated at the Emergency Vet for Parvo to save their lives and sadly, one did not make it.
