She is starting to bounce back already and all systems are go! She is tolerating the Apoquel just fine and itching less so we know it’s working however, I have not seen a significant difference in her coat yet. I think she probably has a food allergy so her new home should do food trials & work with their vet to see if she has a specific protein or grain allergy. In the meantime I am going to eliminate chicken as a start. This little girl loves being wrapped in her blankie and cuddling on the couch with her humans. She is so content she does not seem to mind my dogs when sleeping directly on the floor in front of her unless they get up - which startles her. Only Onward and upward from here lil mama!

12/31/25-Piglet came to work with me yesterday but she slept through most of the workday so she was fired. She decided retirement sounded better for her in 2026. Lol! After a little over a week here, we’ve learned a little more about this tiny baby. She adores being next to her people but occasionally likes her quiet time so is happy to nap alone in her crate. She knows how to give paw and is starting to come when called. She loves treats of all kinds and her absolute favorite thing is belly rubs! Since she does not like ice and snow, I put a piddle pad down and it seems that she was already trained to use this so that has been helpful on cold wet mornings when I am rushing to get to work. I wonder if she lived in an apartment? Her little personality is starting to come out and she is a total sweetheart. We are still working on her skin and are going to try Apoquel as the steroids are wearing off and she is starting to itch. Watch for updates on this baby girl!

12/28/25-We named her Piglet because she is always grunting, snorting & snoring! lol. She is otherwise very quiet & loves her food. I am working to resolve her alopecia which I think is due to immune system stress as she was found as a stray in the feeeeezzzing cold (also worms being treated for, poor nutrition & recent litter). Poor little girl!

12/27/25-Lil miss thang got out of “doggie jail” Monday and has since given me 99 face washes to thank our rescue. She is missing some hair but we don’t know if it is allergies or poor nutrition. She got a bath and absolutely loved the warm water. I think this is my first foster who didn’t hate a bath! We even got some zoomies later that evening! She seems to be mostly house trained but we have found a surprise poop or 2, no pee. It may just be due to transition or because she doesn’t know how to tell us yet that she has to go. Today it snowed and she absolutely hates it! Her poor little paws got so cold she pretended like she was limping and then refused to do poop. Lol. This girl seems to be a really happy dog, always wanting to follow me around. She definitely had a litter of puppies but not sure when. She is very scared of my 2 large dogs and she will yell at them. However I introduced her to a small shelter dog her size and she did better but never showed being fully comfortable. For these reasons we think Piglet will be best as an only dog in her new home. I do think she would be perfectly fine as an only dog enjoying all your attention. This little lady is very quiet in her crate, goes right in and stays settled until you wake in the morning. She keeps her crate dry and loves to tunnel under her blankies. She also snorts and grunts and snores so we’ve been calling her Piglet. So stinkin cute!!! This little piggy will be spayed on 1/5 and then ready to go home!!!

12/22/25-Piglet is an about 18 month old female Boston terrier that came into rescue today from a great shelter we work with. She was found as a stray & no one claimed her. She was lactating when she was brought in but she’s not lactating any longer so she probably recently had a litter. The vet check up showed she has a bad skin infection & lots of hair loss. We will be working on her skin issue which will be the biggest part of the job. The vet put her on antibiotics and a steroid which she will finish in about a week. I’m giving her some medicated baths and may try Apoquel if needed in case it’s allergies too. She was itching when she came into the shelter but she has not itched in the last couple hours I’ve had her. Her spay is scheduled for Monday 1/5 & she will be ready to go home soon after.
