Pico de Gallo (aka Pico)'s Story

Meet Pico de Gallo! We call him Pico since we got him on Cinco de Mayo. He's approximately 3-4 years old and thought to be an American Staffordshire Terrier-type mix with beautiful brindle-colored wavy hair and a noggin' big enough to dam a river.

Pico's life before coming to us is unknown, so we're learning as we go with him. He was immediately friendly with most of us, bashful with some. He's a big baby, so just be ready to spoil his every need. He's a strong boy, so a handler who is used to having a big dog like Pico will be beneficial.

Pico appears to be potty trained, but we'd recommend utilizing a crate and a 'refresher course' so he can get used to your new routine. He would greatly benefit from a family who can continue with his obedience training (he already knows some commands!) as this will also help to strengthen his bond with you. We think he should do well with other pets & children as long as everyone is properly introduced and supervised.

Pico has a nice moderate energy level, so he'll be great for someone who wants a daily walking/jogging/hiking companion, but also a buddy to cuddle up with on a rainy night. If you're looking for a big hunk o' love like Pico to join your family, follow the link below! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved:
https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html

Pico will be neutered & fully vaccinated prior to adoption.
