Pickles: Adopted!'s Story

Date of birth: 1/12

11/21/13: Pickles is a super sweet Pit Bull mix. She's very friendly and good-natured. We take her to our satellite adoption events and she loves meeting new people. She's always happy to roll over for a belly rub! She also gets along well with most other dogs.

Pickles is a fence jumper extraordinaire! She easily jumps the fence here at the shelter so that she can visit other dogs in the adjacent yard. She'll need a home with someone who will take her for long walks and she'd need to be carefully supervised if in a fenced yard.

Pickles is just under 2 years old and weighs 52 lbs. She had a horrible skin condition when she first arrived at our shelter. We treated her and her fur is completely grown back in now and she looks great. Pickles has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heart worms. She was originally a stray.

MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...

Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for more information about our adoption process, our adoption fees and all that's included, and for a pet adoption application.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.

Thank you for searching for a shelter pet!
