This sweet, gentle girl may be a little further down the road in life, but don’t tell her that! At around 9 years old, Peachie still has plenty of energy, and her foster family often thinks she seems younger than her years.
Peachie’s favorite things are food, treats, daily walks, soaking up the sunshine and being in the same room with her person. She’s an independent little lady who prefers a comfy dog bed where she can watch everything happening around her—her “floor throne.” Every now and then she’ll hop onto the couch for a snuggle before retiring back to her preferred spot.

She has really come to enjoy daily walks with her two foster IG brothers and generally pays little attention to other people or pets passing by. Peachie does very well with other small dogs and has also successfully spent time around larger dogs. A confident Italian Greyhound companion or other small dog is part of her ideal home. She takes cues from other dogs, and having a confident friend helps her navigate new experiences. Peachie has not been evaluated with cats or other types of household pets.

Peachie takes time to become comfortable with new people and situations. She currently prefers her foster mom and peacefully coexists with her foster dad, and her foster believes that relationship can continue to grow with time—and perhaps a few well-placed treats. Peachie needs people who understand that trust develops on her timetable and who will introduce new experiences with patience and a gentle approach.

Peachie has had limited exposure to respectful children and has done well during those interactions; however, her experience with children is limited, and we are seeking an adult home for her.

At night, Peachie prefers sleeping in her dog bed and now sleeps there all night without a problem. She can stay in a crate when necessary and is crated when her foster family will be away for an extended period, although a crate definitely isn’t her favorite place.

Peachie does well with her housetraining when she has a consistent routine and regular access to her outdoor potty area. She may have an accident in a new environment or if left loose for an extended period, so her new family should expect to help her adjust to a new routine. She strongly prefers having an outdoor area where she can take her time to potty and has very limited experience pottying on leash.

And then there is Peachie’s backyard. She loves being outside—sniffing around, investigating the occasional mystery sound and stretching out in the sunshine. For that reason, Peachie needs a private, securely fenced yard or outdoor potty area. A community dog park or shared dog area does not meet this requirement.

Medically, Peachie has an occasional luxation of a toe on her left front paw. Her foster reports that it is infrequent, may return to position on its own or can be easily addressed when it occurs, and does not appear to cause ongoing pain or discomfort.

Peachie is looking for an adult family that will be as tender and sweet-natured with her as she is with them, continue helping her experience the world with patience and grace, and appreciate an independent little companion who simply wants to know her favorite person is nearby.

Approved and Signed,
Her Royal Peachie-ness
