Pibbles's Story
Pibbles was brought to us by a woman dragging her up our driveway, by a collar. She was so scared she tried to attack me when I opened the gate. The woman actually yanked her back by her leash, and kicked her in front of me. Of course i took her.
My husband brought out a kennel and we sat and talked to her , bit she was in fight mode, Eventually she ran into the kennel.
I have had her and been rehabbing her for almost a year now. I was bitten several times in the first 3 weeks. Over the year these incidents have become less, and I believe with an understanding owner Pibbles, that has had experience with abused dogs; she is ready to be adopted. We do a 2 week Trial Adoption.
She has become attached to me and wants to "own" me, being very protective of her space. She is very loving with me and my husband, but has been fearful of visitors however, after being assured she's safe ( and a few treats) she warms up.
She tolerates our other dogs, as long as they respect her boundaries, but we believe she would do best as an only dog
.
Absolutely no children.
She would be great for an older couple or single middle aged person.

The adopter would need to understand they would be continuing the Rehabilitaion of a dog that was VERY abused, and who understands the "Fight or Fight Instinct"
When threatened or scared, a dog only has 2 instincts They will stand and FIGHT or Run. Pibbles' instinct is to stand and fight.

With time and patience Pibbles has been a loving, entertaining, little dancer,(when begging for treats) joy for me. She loves to snuggle at night and really has SO MUCH love to give.

She is very empathetic and will sit and listen, tilting her head and looking like she understands you.

She is aware of every little sound, and and would be an excellent guard dog.
She has had her dentals, so her kisses are sweet; not stinky breath.

She is doggy door trained, but afraid of someone opening the door to go out,, and will insist you go out first. I personally believe someone has at one time intentionslly closed a door on her, hurting her.

We have her groomed every other month, as her hair grows fast. She was totally matted when we got her. She ihas been problamic, the first 4 times she's been groomed, but our groomter said this last time she didn't need the muzzel. She would need an EXPERIENCED Groomer.
