Phoenix's Story

Meet Phoenix!

Phoenix is a dog with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. She is spayed, up to date on all of her vaccines, house trained, and crate trained.

Phoenix’s favorite things in the world are toys, Kong treats, and cuddling. She has a medium energy level where she loves a good zoomie session and playtime, but she is usually content to lounge around for much of the day. Despite being 50 pounds, she is absolutely convinced she is a lap dog and would happily spend all evening curled up on the couch touching her person.

Phoenix is incredibly smart and very food motivated, which makes her a joy to train. She learns quickly and already knows commands like “leave it” so well that she will patiently wait for permission before touching her dinner. With someone willing to continue working with her, there is no doubt she could learn just about anything. She would be a great sport or agility companion.

Phoenix gets along great with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine friend. She has been around kids and generally does well, though she can sometimes get a little too excited when play gets rowdy and may need a reminder to settle down, so would recommend only older kids.

Like many dogs, Phoenix can be unsure of strangers at first and may be a little reactive by barking, but she has been making amazing progress and relaxes once she has time to get comfortable. She will do best with a patient adopter who is willing to continue helping her build confidence and stick with her training. She is also not a fan of car rides yet, but she is making progress there too!

One of Phoenix’s funniest quirks is that she will bark at the TV when she wants it to be turned on for a little visual stimulation. LOL.

Phoenix is looking for someone who will appreciate her goofy, affectionate personality and give her the love, structure, and consistency she deserves. In return, she will be the most loyal couch-snuggling best friend you could ask for.

If you would like to schedule time to meet this girl, please fill out an application or send an email to info@abbeyroadrescue.org.

Application available at:
https://form.jotform.com/223375266979068
