Phoenix's Story

June 2, 2009

Pheonix is doing much better! She's now up-to date on all vaccines and microchipped. She has gained another 5 lbs.; now weighing 89 lbs. All the nasty bad hair is starting to shed out (which means she looks like she has mange, but she doesn’t), and she's growing a nice black glossy coat. She is now fine with nail trimming. She should be going in for her heartworm treatment next week. She is not pulling at all on the leash, and now heals.

She has been to the dog park several times and mingles well with other dogs. She loves the dog park so much that she never wants to go home! She runs around, plays and chases other dogs, but as soon as her in-house sibling is ready to go home, she's ready to go home as well. She will do well with another female dog without any dominant issues. She isn't quite sure about men, but is very comfortable with women.

May 27, 2009

Phoenix needs to gain 10 - 20 lbs. before going through heartworm treatment.

May 14, 2009

Phoenix went to the vet today and she has a viral infection. The vet gave her antibiotics and antihistamines for 7 days. She's not contiguous, but she cannot go out for 24 hours.

Her initial weight was 78 lbs.

May 12, 2009

This girl has gone through a lot. Loosing her family, months on the streets, the animal shelter & being returned to it. She is now facing HW treatment. She deserves a lucky name. So, her name is Phoenix.

May 11, 2009

The Montgomery dane is doing well. She & Brinks are getting along great & she is settling down and scoping out the house & the yard. Thank goodness for Minda at the shelter... if not for her... this dane could have been lost.
