Phoenix's Story

AGE: 4 years

SEX: Female

BREED: Bully Mix

ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

DOG FRIENDLY: Yep!

CAT FRIENDLY?: No

KID FRIENDLY?: Yep! (older, dog-savvy kids)

FOSTER IG: @honey.canine

Meet Phoenix! This lovable girl is a goofy, affectionate cuddle bug with a big personality. Once she gets to know you, her silly and playful side really comes out, and tug is hands down her favourite game. She loves being close to her people and will happily spend her downtime curled up on the couch with you. She’s also a big fan of sniffing and taking her sweet time when she finds the perfect potty spot. Phoenix may be small and sweet, but she has plenty of passion and personality packed into one adorable package!

Phoenix is a playful girl with a strong drive. She absolutely loves playing with the dogs in her home and would happily spend all day doing it if given the chance. She also gives playful cues to dogs on walks and generally wants to make friends, although she can react when another dog is rude or gets too close. She is generally good on leash and learns quickly, and her foster family has been focusing on building structure into play and strengthening her skills outside. She’s great in the car, settles quickly, and could likely handle a busy environment well - she’s comfortable walking on busier streets and hasn’t had issues with hallway noises or elevators. She watches small animals closely and may track them, but she doesn’t pull or chase.

Phoenix can be timid and hesitant with new people and may take some time to warm up, particularly with men. Once she trusts you, however, she is incredibly loving and devoted. She has welcomed several guests into the home without issue when introductions are handled thoughtfully. She has also done very well with dogs and has had very few issues while with her experienced foster. Phoenix has occasionally barked and lunged when she feels threatened or pressured, and she has previously struggled with men in the home and guarding her space when uncomfortable. She is very responsive to correction and typically settles quickly, but her future family should have dog experience and be committed to continuing her training, confidence-building, and providing appropriate outlets for her strong drive. She is also still working on her house training and can have accidents in her crate, although she has no separation anxiety and can comfortably settle on her own for several hours. If you’re looking for a sweet, passionate, playful girl who will absolutely devote herself to her people once she knows she’s safe, Phoenix may be your perfect match!

Phoenix will also have free training for life with Honey K9 who is currently fostering her!

Think you might be the right fit to provide a loving home for Phoenix? New Collar Collective's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS 1. Complete and submit an adoption application. All applications will be screened, and applicants will receive an email response letting you know whether your application has been approved to move to the next step in our process or not. If you have not received a response from us, first check your spam/junk folder before sending us an email. 2. You will be asked to submit two personal references, and a vet reference where applicable, as part of our process. Please make sure to let them know that they may be contacted by one of our volunteers. Veterinarian clinics will require your permission to share any information with our team. 3. A phone interview will be scheduled with one of our adoption coordinators via email or phone. 4. Your adoption coordinator will connect with one of our volunteers to schedule a home visit. Home visits will be completed virtually or in-person depending on available resources. If a virtual home visit is completed and there are any outstanding questions or concerns, New Collar Collective reserves the right to do a follow up (in person) home visit. Volunteers conducting virtual home visits will be required to direct the home visit so we are assured they have seen all areas of the home. Volunteers conducting in-person home visits will be encouraged to bring a friend along for their safety. In this case, you will be notified in advance. 5. A meet & greet will be coordinated with the animal’s foster. All members of the household (including dogs) will be required to attend the meet and greet. 6. Post meet & greet If there are no further questions or concerns, applicants will contact their adoption’s coordinator to let them know if they would like to move forward with the adoption. Adopters will be contacted to provide all contract requirements. ADOPTION POLICIES The policies outlined below are guidelines and there may be instances where an exception can be made upon the agreement of the adoption management/Board of Directors. Periodically, New Collar Collective will revisit these guidance policies to ensure they still meet the intended needs of the rescue. We do not adopt to applicants who live outside of our adoption radius. We do not ship dogs. Adopters are responsible for picking up their newly adopted pet. All pets in your household must be spayed and neutered. All pets in your household must be up to date with mandatory vaccinations. We do not allow applicants to test out a cat/dog before adoption. We expect that applicants will take the necessary time to meet with the dog or cat, talk with the foster, and ask lots of questions. Our rescues have already been through so much, we feel it is in their best interest that trials do not occur. *Exception for Foster-to-Adopt applicants All members of the household must be present during the Home Visit and the Meet and Greet. We do not adopt to families with children under the age of 4. The full adoption fee is due at the time of adoption. We do not offer payment plans.
