Phoenix's Story

Meet Phoenix!

True to his name, Phoenix is a beautiful example of resilience and second chances. This 5-year-old poodle mix came from a local cruelty case; he spent much of his life confined to a kennel, severely matted and starving. Despite everything he’s been through, Phoenix’s heart is still full of love.

Phoenix adores people and bonds deeply with his person—once he chooses you, he’s your loyal little shadow. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is completely unbothered by cats, and takes comfort in gentle companionship.

Because of his past, Phoenix is still working on housebreaking, and he experiences significant anxiety around crates. He would thrive in a patient, understanding home where a kennel isn’t required and where he can continue learning what safety and love feel like at his own pace.

Phoenix doesn’t need perfection—he needs kindness, consistency, and someone willing to meet him where he is. In return, he’ll give you unwavering devotion and a love that’s been waiting far too long to be returned.

Phoenix is up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped, on monthly prevention and is scheduled to be neutered and have his teeth cleaned on 3/24.

Note: We do not respond to PetFinder inquiries, you must submit an application.

Yes, we do adopt out of state! However, you must be willing to come to the Savannah area; we don't have the ability to meet.

Copy and paste the following link in your browser to view our adoption application!

https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TBDF/Dog

Two Black Dogs Foundation's Adoption Policy
All adopters MUST fill out an application. We do not respond to inquiries submitted through PetFinder. If you have questions about a specific animal feel free to email us, or send us a message on Facebook. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. If you are approved to adopt a member of our team will contact you. Meet and greets are set up by appointment only after you’ve been approved. In most cases you are allowed to take your new pet home after your meet and greet, unless the animal is too young to be spayed/neutered, in which case you will sign up to foster-to-adopt. We do not hold animals so please do not apply or set up a meet and greet unless you are ready to leave with your new pet. Any vetting done at your own vet clinic will be at your own expense. Spay/neuter included in adoption fee must be done by one of our local partner vet clinics, and adopter is responsible for arranging transportation. All animals adopted through TBDF are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and parasite free and up to date on their preventions. All cats and kittens are FiV/FeLV tested, all dogs over 6 months of age are heartworm tested and treated if positive.
