Phoebe's Story

Meet Phoebe.
Phoebe was a former foster of mine 10 years ago. She had come to the shelter after a larger dog mounted her and broke her back. She was impregnated as well. She dragged her back legs for two days in the back yard before animal control was called and stepped in and took her. I fostered her through her pregnancy and sling walked her until her back healed somewhat. Once her pregnancy was done and the babies were born, she regained her ability to walk but dragged her right back leg. There was nerve damage in that foot. That rear right leg was amputated because her foot stayed raw.
Once she healed, She was adopted and lived with her new owner for 9 years. Recently, Phoebe developed anxiety that her owner could not deal with so she came back to me rather than go to a shelter. We are not sure what caused the anxiety so suddenly. She is under the care of a vet.

Phoebe recently started daily pain meds and got a wheelchair to help with her mobility. She tends to drag her remaining back foot when she is tired. She's also on meds for her anxiety. Additionally she takes Proin to help with a tiny bit of incontinence (she dribbles a bit).
She is adoptable to someone who can deal with all that. We know that's a lot.

Phoebe will be 11 in July. She's about 14 pounds.
Apply to meet her.
https://centraltexaslittledogrescue.org/

If that goes well, we take the pet to their home and make sure the fence will hold the dog. If the fence/home check is good, then the contract is filled out, adoption fee paid and the dog stays with the adopter.
