Phineas's Story
Meet Phineas (“Phinny”)

Phineas is a super sweet, gentle soul with a playful side and so much love to give. He's the kind of dog who takes just a little time — about 20 minutes — to warm up to new people, and then it's as if he's known you forever. Once you're in his circle, you're in for life.

Phinny loves to explore the outdoors, happily entertains himself with toys, and enjoys playing with his buddy Oscar. He would do beautifully in a family home — he recently spent five days with a dog sitter who has two boys (ages 10 and 13), and he did great with them. His thoughtful, observant nature makes him a wonderful companion for both adults and respectful children.

We are currently working through some skin sensitivities with him. He receives monthly Cytopoint injections to manage itching and has completed antibacterial and antifungal treatments. After a flare-up following vaccinations earlier this year, we began a strict elimination process and have recently transitioned him to a hydrolyzed diet as recommended by our veterinarian. We are optimistic this will help us better manage his skin long-term. His future family should be prepared to continue working with their veterinarian to monitor his skin health, but he is otherwise a happy, active, thriving boy.

Phineas would be a great match for a family who understands that the very best dogs sometimes just need a short introduction period before showing their full, loving personality. He bonds deeply, plays sweetly, and brings a calm, steady presence to the home.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will explore with you, play with you, and then settle in as your devoted best friend, Phineas may be your perfect match.

Location Auburn, CA
