Philbin's Story

Philbin is a sweet, friendly, affectionate and playful 2 year old male yellow lab who is looking for his forever home. Somehow Phil wound up as a stray in NJ and spent several weeks at the local municipal shelter where the kind staff took care of him and searched for his owners. After no one came to claim him he was rescued and brought into foster care with Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue. He has been a complete joy for his foster family since the moment he walked in. He had all of his medical needs taken care of at the shelter, including neutering, and has done so well with his fosters that he has been deemed ready to adopt in record time.

It's clear that Philbin was a house pet before he was a stray dog because he is fully house trained, crate trained, rides well in the car, knows some commands, and in general is very comfortable as a pet. He has done well with the two resident dogs in his foster home and while we have not tested him with cats, we think a dog savvy cat can share a home with him easily. He brings joy and happiness into every room and absolutely loves giving and receiving affection from his people.

Since Philbin was a stray and also exhibits a lot of curiosity, he might be a flight risk so we are looking for an adoptive home with a secure fenced yard to keep him safe and at home where he belongs. He is also very strong and pulls hard on the leash when he is motivated to go see or sniff something, so his new family will need to have at least one strong person who can safely handle that behavior, and a commitment to getting him training to learn how to walk on the leash properly.

Other than those areas in need of some improvement, Philbin is an absolutely wonderful dog and the epitome of the Good Boy we all love. If you would like to open your home to this big fun boy, please apply to adopt!

PLEASE NOTE: While this Lab may not be available for adoption by the time you complete the adoption process, other great Labs are always finding their way into our Rescue. (Note: Sometimes a foster home falls in love and adopts their foster dog so the dog doesn’t make it to “Available Now”).

If you are interested in adopting this Lab or any other Lab from our Rescue, please visit our Website, brooklinelabrescue.org, for more information on our adoption process. If you need additional information about the adoption process or whether you are in our coverage area, please send an e-mail to our Rescue at info@brooklinelabrescue.org.

Even if you are not ready to adopt, you can still help us help our Labs!

Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer organization funded entirely by donations. Donations are always needed to help with veterinary costs, transportation, and supplies for our dogs.

For information on donating to BLRR please click brooklinelabrescue.org/get-involved/donate/.

Donations are accepted via PayPal or you can mail a check to Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue.

Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc.
P.
