Phantom's Story

Hi, everyone! I’m a 6-month-old deaf puppy with a big personality, lots of energy, and a whole lot of love to give! I may not be able to hear the world around me, but don’t let that fool you. I’m a smart little guy who is learning more every day, and I’m pretty good at watching the other dogs around me to figure things out.

I’m still a puppy, which means I come with all the usual puppy shenanigans! I love to play, explore, and sometimes get a little too excited and mouthy. Because I’m still learning my manners, I’ll need a family willing to work with me on boundaries and help me learn when it’s time to play and when it’s time to settle down. Young children will need close supervision around me, and a home with little ones would need to be committed to maintaining consistent, safe boundaries.

The good news? I’m already making progress with my potty training and crate training! I’m a bright boy who is eager to learn, and with patience, consistency, and positive training, I have so much potential. Since I can’t hear verbal commands, my family will need to be willing to learn how to communicate with me through hand signals, visual cues, and other training techniques. I promise I’m worth the effort!

I get along well with other dogs, and having a confident, well-mannered dog in my forever home could be a huge benefit. I love learning by watching my furry friends, and a canine companion who can help show me the ropes would be wonderful. Of course, my new dog sibling will need to be comfortable with puppy energy and able to communicate appropriate boundaries when I get a little too wild!

I’m looking for a family who understands that puppies take work, deaf puppies may need a little extra creativity, and raising me will require patience, consistency, and lots of love. I’m not looking for someone who expects me to be perfect right away. I need someone willing to help me grow into the amazing dog I’m meant to be.

If you have room in your heart for a playful, clever, slightly chaotic little guy who sees the world a little differently, I might be your perfect match! I may not hear you call my name, but I can still learn to recognize you, trust you, and love you with my whole heart.

**I may be deaf, but I’m full of life, love, and potential. Could you be the person who helps me find my happily ever after?**

MORE INFO:
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, or scheduled to be if they arrived in our care too young. Each dog has been seen by our veterinarian and treated for likely the following (all various): Age appropriate vaccines, overall health exam and other alignments as they come up. All dogs are dewormed, given core vaccines (Bordetella, DHPP (3 of them if a puppy) and Rabies as well as all are microchipped and on a monthly preventative for flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

All of our animals are placed into foster homes so they thrive and the transition is easier.

If interested in learning more or meeting this pup, please fill out our adoption application.
The application can be found here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/JHRA/Dog
