Peyton's Story

Peyton, approx. 5-year-old Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as soft as his fur. This sweet boy is incredibly cuddly and absolutely loves any kind of affection — pets, pats, scratches, hugs… if you’re offering, he’s accepting. Peyton is the ultimate sidekick and will happily stick close to you, leaning in to make sure you’re okay while gazing up with his soulful, longing eyes.

Peyton already knows several commands, including sit, down/off, outside, and no begging. He’s mostly potty trained and has made huge progress in a short time. Coming from a background where the world was his bathroom, he’s doing GREAT and would be fully house-trained in no time. He currently lets you know he needs to go out by sitting at the door and will give a little scratch if you don’t notice right away.

He isn’t a big fan of the crate, but with a little encouragement he’ll go in and settle just fine. Peyton can be a bit vocal, especially as he adjusts to a busy household or new environment, but this should improve as he continues to feel more secure.

Peyton does well with children ages 4–10, as well as older kids and teens. He’s gentle, cautious, and watchful. He’s interested in other dogs of all sizes and can be confident and a bit domineering, so slow, proper introductions are important.

This boy loves being outside and enjoys soaking up the fresh air. He’s currently learning the ropes of leash walking and making steady progress.

If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Peyton may be your perfect match.

Interested in adopting this dog?
Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend.

We love our dogs.
