Visit the HSGKC Adoptable Dogs tent on Ward Parkway near Wyandotte.<br/><br/>Date of birth: 4/2016<br/><br/>5/27/2018: Petey is a darling little Chihuahua/Terrier mix. He is 2 years old and weighs 11 lbs. Petey is a little shy at first, but once he gets to know you he’s super sweet and loves attention and likes to sit in your lap. He loves to be with people after his initial shyness. He’d do best in a fairly quiet home without kids. <br/><br/>Petey gets along with other dogs and cats. If you have a dog, we’d ask you to make an appointment to bring your dog in to meet Petey to see if they could be buddies. He’s not very fond of being crated or left alone a lot, so we’d like to find him a home with someone who is home quite a bit. He keeps his kennel clean but he still needs work with house training. He also likes to chew so will need appropriate toys and supervision. He's still kind of a puppy! <br/><br/>Petey was found in a box by the dumpster of an apartment building. He has some old wounds on his paws. He’s been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. We encourage you to fill out an online adoption application and submit it before you come to see us. This helps us process your application more quickly and we can schedule an appointment for you to come in so that our small staff can serve you best. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you. <br/><br/>> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home! <br/><br/>> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs.
