Petey's Story

Hold onto your hats mother puppers, I'm blasting through!

My name is Petey but I usually find myself responding to "PETER!" Mom says I'm trouble looking for a place to happen but I'm pretty sure that's just another way of calling me a cutie. Okay so MAYBE I bite the leash when dad walks me and MAYBE I knocked mom off the couch and down the camper stairs, but who hasn't? My shelter pawrents are trying to teach me the art of being gentle as I'm notorious for bulldozing through rooms like a wrecking ball. Though I need some work in the training department I am always reminded by mom that I have a beautiful heart. I love everyone I meet but come on a bit strong and quickly become overexcited once I begin receiving attention. I truly am a puppy wrapped in this big goofy body and still engage in a lot of naughty puppy behaviors including jumping and nipping at clothes when overstimulated. For this reason I am searching for a home with mature teens and adults.

I haven't had the easiest time with other dogs as I have an extremely in your face pawsonality. If you have another large breed pup, preferably a lovely lady, I would be interested in meeting them to see if our energies are compatible. Absolutely no cats or small doggies for me though!

I looked up at my kennel mom with my sad eyes and big velvety head and asked why she shares my naughty antics with everyone. She reminded me that it's important to be transparent about the things I need to work on with my new family. Many dogs are returned to shelters, or even worse DUMPED, because some adopters search solely for looks and choose a dog entirely incompatible with their training experience and lifestyle. Mom suspects that my previous family picked me up as an adorable puppy but never bothered to train me as I didn't even know how to sit or walk on a leash. Once I became a big strong boy they likely became overwhelmed and tossed me outside where I was found. She promised me that my next home will be with my forever family and reassured me that she is taking all required steps to ensure that they will be the right fit for my needs. I am an incredible boy who is affectionate, playful, highly food motivated and ready to learn. If you are prepared to put in the work now to build a bright future together feel free to reach out and send an adoption inquiry!
