Peter's Story

Meet Peter

DOB: 05-24-2025

Peter’s story didn’t start off easy. Originally adopted in Texas as a puppy, he was passed along, then ultimately “let go” like he was disposable.

Peter is not your typical nonstop chaos puppy. He’s got the fun bursts of energy where he’ll zoom around the yard, grab a toy, or try to convince you that tug-of-war is the best invention of all time. But just as quickly, he’ll power down and turn into a belly-rub enthusiast who’s perfectly content hanging out with his people. It’s like living with a tiny athlete who also moonlights as a couch potato.

He’s a smart, easygoing guy who already has a solid foundation. Peter knows “sit,” is working on “shake,” and is about 80 to 90 percent potty trained. He sleeps quietly in his crate for a full night without a peep and keeps it clean, which honestly makes him a bit of a unicorn in the puppy world. He enjoys walks, even if he occasionally decides mid-walk that it’s time for a break and a little life reflection.

Peter does great with people, is good with older kids, gets along with other dogs of all sizes, and has even done well with cats. He would love a dog sibling to play with, but he’s adaptable enough to thrive in many different types of homes as long as he has structure and companionship.

Like any young dog, he’s still learning the ropes. When he gets excited or frustrated, he can be mouthy and may grab at a leash, clothing, or whatever’s nearby. If he’s loose in the house without supervision, he may still have accidents. These are all things that will continue to improve with consistency, boundaries, and guidance.

Peter’s ideal home is one that sees his potential and is willing to keep building on what he’s already learned. He doesn’t need perfection, he just needs someone committed to helping him grow into the great dog he’s already on his way to becoming.

After everything he’s been through, Peter deserves stability, patience, and a family that won’t give up on him. In return, he’ll give you a mix of play, loyalty, and those perfectly timed flop-over-for-belly-rubs moments that make everything worth it.

Apply for Peter at rescueapittie.org!
