Peter Benjamin "Pete"'s Story
? Meet Peter Benjamin – or as we like to call him, Sir Pete ?
Dapper. Delightful. Slightly dramatic.
Sir Pete has the look of a distinguished gentleman and the heart of a chaotic little court jester. We’re scratching our heads wondering why this adorable 15-pound terrier mix hasn’t been snatched up—he’s got a curly Shiba-style tail, a face that begs for kisses, and enough personality to star in his own sitcom.
He was struggling at the shelter, where all the noise and chaos sent his nervous system into overdrive. So we moved him to a loving foster home, and little by little, we started to see the real Pete: quirky, sweet, eager to please, and just a bit high-strung—in the most endearing way.
Here's the royal rundown on Sir Pete:
? Vitals & Vibes:
• Young dog (based on his energy—he’s got pep!)
• 15 lbs of wiry terrier charm
• Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped
• Knows "sit" and "stay"
• Walks great on leash, loves hikes and strolls
• Potty trained-ish—does best with a belly band indoors (yes, he still marks)
? Social Scene:
• Great with new people, men, and respectful kids
• Prefers smaller female dogs with slow intros (his play style is 100% “bitey-face”)
• Would thrive either with a playful, small female companion or as a spoiled only dog
• Afraid of big dogs and reacts with fear-based aggression
• Tolerates cats if they mind their own business—otherwise, chase mode activated
• Food aggressive with other animals and a bit with people—so no small children, please
? His Favorite Things:
• CAR RIDES! Seriously, his #1 joy in life
• Running in the yard like a little maniac
• Playing fetch (yes, he actually brings the ball back)
• Toys, bones, and being the center of attention
• Walks, hikes, and outdoor adventures
Sir Pete isn’t perfect—but who is? He’s a quirky, high-energy, emotionally complex gentleman who just wants a home where he can be loved for exactly who he is. If you’ve got a heart for underdogs (and maybe a stash of car snacks), Sir Pete might just be your new co-pilot.

****PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ****QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF BEFORE ADOPTING ANY PET: Adoption should NEVER be an impulsive decision, it must be thought out carefully. Adopting a pet is a 15 to 20+ year commitment. Can we afford to care properly for our new family member? If we're renting do they allow pets here? Is there a pet deposit? Can we afford the pet deposit? What if we get sick, what if our pet becomes ill and has to see a veterinarian? Pets requires routine check-ups, annual vaccines, quality food, many necessities and toys, can we afford this? These are all questions a responsible pet owner must ask themselves. If you can make this type of commitment, please take a moment to email us for an application: friendsofthetas@gmail.com
