PERSEUS 425's Story
Meet Perseus!
Perseus is the kind of dog who makes it pretty hard not to fall in love with him. This handsome 1–2-year-old 33-pound Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix is sweet, goofy, smart, playful, and always ready to make a new friend. Whether he's showing off his zoomies, playing with another dog, or simply hanging out with his favorite humans, Perseus brings a little extra fun wherever he goes.
Perseus LOVES other dogs and has yet to meet a canine friend he didn't want to know. He loves people just as much! Give him a little time to check out a new situation, and before long, he's working the room like a social butterfly, soaking up attention and making new friends.
At home, Perseus has a wonderful balance of play and chill. He's a medium-energy guy who's perfectly happy entertaining himself with his toys while his foster parents are busy, lounging near his people, or suddenly deciding the house desperately needs a spectacular round of ZOOMIES! He enjoys attention and affection but doesn't need you to entertain him every second of the day.
He's also been doing great with his house manners and has had no accidents when kept on a regular schedule. Perseus is generally gentle on leash, although spotting another dog or a rabbit can be VERY exciting and occasionally requires his immediate investigation!
Perseus is looking for a cat-free home. Cats are simply a little too tempting for this curious boy, so human and canine roommates are much more his speed.
When bedtime rolls around, Perseus wants to be near his people. Crate life hasn't been a good fit for him, but give him a spot on the bedroom floor near his humans, and he's happy to settle in for the night.
Perseus made the journey to Wisconsin from Oklahoma after being found as a stray, and there are still a few pieces of his new life he's figuring out. The car is one of them! He hasn't quite connected "getting into the car" with "something fun is about to happen!" yet, so he currently appreciates a little boost inside. Once he's in, though, he's a calm and quiet passenger ready to see where the adventure takes him.
What makes Perseus special isn't just that he's handsome (although he certainly knows how to work those good looks!). It's how genuinely happy he seems to simply be part of your life. Give him a toy, a dog friend, an adventure, a little affection, or just a spot near his favorite humans, and he's a happy boy.
Perseus has already traveled a long way to get here. Now he's waiting for the best part of his story: the person or family who looks at that goofy face and realizes he's exactly who they've been looking for.
Could that be you?

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$425+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$375+tax for ages 4-7
$275+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs. Thank you for considering Lucky Mutts Rescue for your next furry family member!
