Percy's Story

Percy has quite the story to tell! This boy has come a long way since he got loose after his owner passed away, was struck by a car, and finally captured two weeks later. An amazing foster family took Percy in offering him a safe, quiet resting place, medical care, and lots of love and support throughout his recovery. We learned that, in his former life, Percy was part of a sled dog operation and sadly lived life on a chain outside year-round.

Fast forward months later, Percy is back to a healthy weight and learning to appreciate a life of luxury inside a home. He is a sweet boy, house and crate trained, walks well on-leash, and rides quietly in the car. Missing out on early socialization and training, the world is a scary place for Percy outside of the comfort of his home where he has learned to feel safe. Percy is searching for a patient and understanding person who will take their time to slowly introduce him to new situations, and at his own pace, so eventually he will be more comfortable, and less stressed and anxious with outings away from home and outside of his normal routine. Percy is shy and timid with meeting new people, but has never shown any aggression whatsoever. He prefers to view visitors from afar until he feels comfortable and safe coming into the same room.

Percy is so deserving of a chance to live out his life in a quiet, calm home, one that could provide him with stability and a predictable routine, will respect his space, and understand that he will need one-on-one time to trust his new humans. Once he trusts, he will seek out scratches and pats from his people. Having a stable, confident canine sibling(s) to play with and show him the ropes would certainly enrich his life and help him to spread his wings. Percy is a lower energy dog, good with other dogs and cats, approximately 3-4 years old, 57 lbs, mixed breed unknown. Percy would love a home with a fenced in yard.

PLEASE SHARE and help this sweet boy find his new home.
