Percy's Story
?? Meet Percy (Bug) ??

Breed: Pug
Age: 2 years
Weight: ~18 lbs
Location: Selma, CA

Percy is a small pug with a big heart — and a huge personality once he feels safe. ?

This little guy has come such a long way! He recently recovered from a painful eye ulcer after weeks of care, and though he’s still working to gain a bit of weight, he’s getting stronger every day. He’s already been dewormed and is scheduled for his neuter soon.

Percy needs an experienced, patient foster or adopter who understands shy or reactive dogs. He’s extremely attached to his person and can be very shy with strangers — especially men. He still barks excessively at his foster dad, but we’re hopeful neutering and more socialization will help him build confidence.

Once Percy trusts you, he’s a total lovebug! ? When he gives kisses, his whole body wiggles with joy. He adores toys (especially BarkBox ones!), does zoomies around the yard, and loves to make little “pug talk” sounds when he wants attention.

He wasn’t abused, but he also wasn’t given much structure or affection before rescue. He’s learning that love is safe — and he’s doing amazing.

? Percy’s Perfect Home:

Patient, experienced owner (ideally pug-savvy)

No young kids or chaotic environments

No cats

Secure yard or leashed walks — he is a runner!

Another friendly, calm dog would help him feel more confident

Someone home often who can give him reassurance and routine

Percy is housetrained, goes potty first thing in the morning, and will tell you when he’s ready to come back inside. He rides well in a dog car seat, loves his toys, and enjoys spending time with other pugs in his foster home (Betty, Addie, and Marsha).

Percy truly is a little treasure — sweet, quirky, and ready for a new beginning with someone who will help him continue to blossom. ?
