Pepper's Story

Meet Peppermint (aka Pepper), a girl looking for a chance. Pepper is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. She was found with multiple other dogs after being reported stuck on a property in a very rural area. These dogs had been saved from running the streets and starvation, but were then confined and tethered outdoors due to not being chicken-friendly. While we don’t know every detail of Pepper’s past, it’s clear she’s experienced a lot—and she approaches new experiences with caution and quiet curiosity.
Pepper is very shy and can be easily spooked, but once she builds trust, she transforms into the sweetest couch-snuggle buddy. She loves other dogs, enjoys running around the yard, and is indifferent to cats. Toys and treats are still a work in progress—she’s learning how to “dog” at her own pace, and it’s incredibly special to watch.
One of her most charming features? The cutest permanent little “mohawk” along the back of her neck and a smile that will absolutely melt your heart.
Pepper is:
• Crate trained and housebroken
• Most comfortable when she has access to her crate as a safe space
• Best suited for a home without small or young children, as she startles easily
• Ideally needs a fenced in yard
Her crate is her cozy retreat—when the world feels like too much, she’ll quietly head there to decompress. Her forever family should be patient and supportive of this as she continues to adjust and feel secure.
Pepper’s ideal home would include another friendly dog. She takes comfort in having a dog buddy tha helps her feel safe, learn routines, and settle into home life more confidently.
Pepper is looking for a patient, understanding home that will allow her to continue coming out of her shell on her own timeline.
Medical note: Pepper is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, which is fully covered by the rescue with our veterinarian. She will need to continue treatment and attend follow-up appointments at our veterinarian in Palm Beach County, Fl.
Copy the link below and paste it in your browser to submit an adoption application.

https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SFMR/Dog
