Pepper's Story

Pepper was surrendered along with his brother, Salt, back in September 2022; both of them were in terrible condition. Poor Pepper had mange, sores, was emaciated and HW positive. However, he made it through treatment like a champ, gained weight, grew back his fur, and is now healthy and ready for a home with humans who will love him the way he truly deserves to be loved.

Though Pepper is all Husky, we call him the half husky as he had an injury upon rescue that claimed half his tail. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, but it makes for quite the interesting look! He will sit super pretty for a treat, toy, or even just some affection. Pepper gets along well with other dogs, enjoys meeting people and loves to play with toys. He will need patience as he transfers to a new home and learns new house rules - especially not to eat things that aren't his food!

If you are interested in pursuing an adoption and you live in Texas , please complete the application (links provided below). The process includes a vet check, calling references and doing a home visit.

http://www.texassleddogrescue.org/web_documents/tsdr_application.pdf
or
https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1632205-WX2Zb144ZP

Please note the following:
We rarely do out of state adoptions. (Exceptions can be discussed but will be based on previous big dog experience and will require same adoption process.)
Children in the home or that visit often must be at least 6 years of age. (Exceptions can be discussed but will be based on previous big dog experience.)
Adoption donation is due at the time of adoption. Puppies under 1 year are $350. Dogs 1 year to 7 years are $300 and dogs over 7 years are $200. As this is a donation, it will be non-returnable if dog is returned to rescue.
Dogs are not placed on a first come, first serve basis but rather the best home for the dog.
All dogs placed by TSDR will be:
spayed/neutered
vaccinated for distemper/parvo, rabies, and bordetella
heartworm tested and treated if needed
microchipped
other vetting as deemed needed
New owners will receive copies of all available vet information and must agree to keep them current on all of the above.
