PEONY's Story

Meet Peony — a shy little flower who’s learning to bloom! At just 7 months old, this German Shepherd mix is still figuring out the big, wide world... and some parts (like doorways) are apparently VERY suspicious. Is it a portal? A trap? A conspiracy? Peony isn’t totally convinced yet—but she’s working on it. Peony came in with her sister Petunia, and while she started off pretty timid, she’s been gaining confidence more and more every day. She’s part of the shelter’s Shy Dog Program, which basically means she’s enrolled in “Bravery School” and making steady progress. Leash walking is still a work in progress, but she’s trying—and getting better every time she is out. Once Peony feels safe, her true personality starts to shine. She’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loves gentle attention. She’ll happily accept treats (politely, like the little lady she is), and food is definitely her love language. If you’ve got snacks, you’re already halfway to being her best friend. Peony is looking for a patient, understanding home that will let her move at her own pace and celebrate all her little victories—like conquering a doorway or taking a few brave steps on leash. With a little time and a lot of love, this shy girl is going to blossom into the most loyal, loving companion. Adopt Peony and help her discover that the world isn’t so scary after all!
