One of the first things you'll notice about Penny is her uniquely expressive eyes -- a little buggy-looking in the absolute cutest way possible -- giving her a constant look of curiosity and charm. Penny originally came to us from a local vet office, though we unfortunately do not know the circumstances surrounding why she was surrendered there. Upon arriving with us, Penny underwent heartworm treatment and has completed it successfully, so she's now feeling great and ready to find a home of her own.<br/><br/>She's an energetic girl who enjoys exploring the world around her -- especially if snacks are involved. Penny is very food motivated, making her a great candidate for continued training and bonding with her future family. While she can be a little aloof at times and marches to the beat of her own drum, she has a fun, lovable personality that grows on you quickly. She also feels very strongly that bath time is unnecessary. Penny has done well meeting other dogs here at the shelter and also scored well when introduced to a cat. Based on her easygoing nature, we think she would likely do just fine in a home with kids as well. Another bonus? Penny keeps her kennel impressively clean, so we believe she is likely housebroken too.<br/><br/>Penny is currently listed as a foster-to-adopt placement, meaning H.A.L.O. will continue covering her monthly heartworm prevention and her required 6-month post-treatment retest, which will confirm that she is officially heartworm negative.
