Meet Penny! <br/><br/>Penny is a beautiful 5-year-old Mini Labradoodle weighing about 20 pounds, and this sweet girl is learning what it means to finally feel safe and loved. <br/><br/>Penny came to Dogworks from a puppy mill situation, so the world is still pretty new and sometimes scary to her. She is very shy when meeting new people and may hide when she is frightened, but she is making progress every day. Once she starts to trust you, you get to see more and more of the sweet girl hiding underneath that nervous exterior.<br/><br/>Penny is a very gentle, quiet and laid-back girl. Most of the time, you’ll find her happily lying by her foster mom’s feet. She is becoming more comfortable every day and is even starting to run and play—which is such a wonderful thing to see! She especially enjoys chewing and playing with an old frozen rag.<br/><br/>Penny does well with other dogs and would love a home with a confident, friendly canine companion to help show her the ropes. She has not been around cats or children yet, so we don’t know how she would do with either.<br/><br/>She is crate trained and does very well with her potty training, with only an occasional accident. She walks on a leash and responds well to gentle verbal correction. Penny is not a jumper, so a standard securely fenced yard would be fine for her.<br/><br/>Because of her history, Penny will need a patient family who understands that she isn’t going to become a social butterfly overnight. She needs someone willing to give her time, patience and plenty of reassurance while she learns that people can be trusted. <br/><br/>She can also be a little too interested in electrical cords, so her new family will need to make sure those are safely out of reach. When Penny is scared, she may try to bolt, so a secure environment and careful attention to doors will be especially important while she settles in.<br/><br/>Penny isn’t looking for a perfect home. She’s looking for her person—someone who will give her the time she needs and celebrate every little bit of progress along the way.<br/><br/>And we promise, watching a shy little puppy mill survivor discover how wonderful life can be is pretty special. <br/><br/>Penny is ready to find the patient, loving family she deserves.<br/><br/>She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention.<br/><br/>Her adoption fee is $350.<br/><br/>Please follow the link below for her adoption application.
