Penny's Story
** If you are interested in adopting Penny, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **

Penny is an adorable 7 month old, 12lb Chihuahua / Pug mix who is just 10 lbs. (Her breed is just an educated guess by the vets, we do not dna test our rescue dogs).

Penny was found as a stray in Houston TX. She was understandably a bit shy at the shelter, but once she got out of the shelter and into a foster home, her sweet, silly, friendly personality came right out! (We are working on getting new photos from her foster home!)

From Penny's foster:
"Penny is doing well. She is too funny most of the time, playing, running, and playing more. She loves stuffed toys, bully sticks, treats, and eats very well. We are now feeding her 3 times a day and still doing well. She is ok on a leash but does not love her crate. She'd rather be with you. Gets along with our cat and often sits on the same loveseat or couch, and sometimes both share my ez chair with me too. Got along very well with the grandkids and grand-dog yesterday. We are not used to having one so young, but she has been entertaining. She will make some family an awesome pet. Not aggressive at all. Very affectionate and gentle. "

Penny would thrive in a home where she’s showered with affection and attention. She’s a social little girl (once comfortable with her new people) who thrives on companionship and would do best in a home with an individual or family (older children are preferred to avoid any tail-pulling or rough handling) who works from home or active retirees who can offer her the love and care she deserves.

We'd like to place Penny in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young girl whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.

Penny has been fully vetted. She is healthy, up to date on her vaccines, and spayed.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ .

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
