Penny's Story
Pick me pick me! Mr. Penny certainly knows how to get your attention with his goofy ways and adorable antics. Due to changing family circumstances, he was brought to the shelter by his previous owner. It is obvious that Penny was a loved family pet, and the transition to the shelter kennels was hard. But his real personality began to shine during his recent stay in a foster home.

Penny has made a big impression on his foster family. He loves to make new friends, both dog and human. He quickly caught on to the doggy door and enjoys exploring the large fenced yard. He adores toys of all kinds, although they usually don't last very long when he settles down for a relaxing chew session. Although Penny is an active and playful boy, he has no problem coming in for a nap on his dog bed or stretching out on the kitchen tiles to cool off. He enjoys the company of other dogs, and is getting along well with his canine foster brothers. He also has two young human foster brothers, and although he thinks they are a lot of fun, he is a little too rough with them and would do best with older children. Penny is smart and responsive during training sessions, and apparently already knows how to sit, down, shake, hi-five, and speak. He is crate-trained and sleeps every night in his kennel with no issues.

Penny's one hang-up has been potty training. When he goes to new places, his urge to mark in the house is very tempting. But with close supervision and plenty of trips outside, he is now accident-free in his foster home. And car rides are a hard pass for Penny, who much prefers to keep his feet on the ground. But anyone who is willing to look past these minor flaws will be rewarded with a well-mannered, affectionate, easy-to-love companion who will reward you with devotion that is worth much more than a mere penny!
