Penny's Story

Hi, my name is Penny! I was found wandering as a stray, a bit underweight, with a very neglected coat. My new friends at NBS Animal Rescue got all the nasty mats out of my fur and are working on getting some weight on me. I'm a svelt gal at just 9lbs and 4 years old. I really love my new foster humans and am pretty much eager to meet all new people. In fact.... I'm working on my boundaries, as I've been known to hop from a couch to a coffee table, to the floor if that is the shortest path to my favorite person (or a treat)! But, once I have my person, I am happy to cuddle on the couch, snuggle in bed, or hang out in a chair on the deck. I am good with other dogs, but I am not great at greeting new dogs. I will need a dog savvy handler to introduce me to new animals while on a leash. There are 3 dogs in my foster home ranging from 10lbs to 130lbs, and I am fine with all of them, although I choose not to engage in play. I am up to date on all my shots, on flea, tick, and heartworm preventive, microchipped, and spayed. I am ready to find my furever home. My hope is to find a home with fenced yard to explore, and someone that can keep up with me when I get a burst of energy. I am working on leash walking (foster dad says I tend to cross and tangle around his feet still). I won't mind having another dog in the house if it is a mellow personality, but I'm not opposed to being a spoiled only child either.

*I am still working a bit on my potty training. Dad says it isn't nice to mark the other dog's bed and toys. But, I mostly do my business outside and am improving since my spay surgery.*

If you have any questions or are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at: www.nbsar.org
