Penny- #51198's Story
Penny #51198

Sweet and cute Penny is looking for a special person to come rescue her. She is only 5 months, already spayed and just the perfect medium size. Penny has been waiting for too long for someone to notice her—and she's hoping that someone is you. Penny is a mixed breed of many types and we are not sure what breeds make up her soulful, happy look. Once Penny knows you, she is silly, playful, friendly and entertains herself well with her toys. She has been growing up in a shelter since she was 10 weeks old. Why you might ask? Because she is scared of new people and needs you to understand it is not your fault. Penny doesn't understand that she can just trust a new person. She needs to sit near you while you ignore her and toss her treats. Most people who visit her do not want to consider a dog that stays away from them.

If you would consider adopting Penny and giving her time to be near you on leash to learn she can trust you, come on by to meet her. If you have another dog that is friendly and likes to play, they will also help Penny get used to a new family. She is even afraid of children. We have had Penny loose in our front office many times and she has learned most of the employees and volunteers and goes up to them. She loves to run around in the yard with her other puppy friends and has a rough playstyle. She does listen well if another dog corrects her and tells her to play easier.

You can visit this pet during our Animal Viewing Hours below.
Applications are accepted in person after you meet them.
You can call first to see if they are still available. 410-313-2780 Option 0.

Location:
Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center
8576 Davis Rd
Columbia, MD 21045

Animal Viewing Hours:
Mon, Wed, Fri 10:00-4:30 (Closed at 2:30 the last Friday of each month)
Tues & Thurs 1:30-6:45
Sat 10:00-2:00 (Closed on county observed holidays)
