Penny's Story

Penny (10) and her daughter, Valkyrie (8), are a bonded pair looking for a forever home together. After spending their lives together, these sweet girls were surrendered due to a change in their family's circumstances through no fault of their own. They deserve a loving home where they can enjoy their golden years side by side.

These two settled into foster care almost immediately, walking confidently into their new home and quickly making themselves comfortable. They have done wonderfully with the resident dogs, communicate appropriately with other pets, and have shown excellent manners throughout their transition.

Penny is the confident leader of the pair. She's calm, affectionate, and happiest curled up on the couch or lounging on a dog bed where she can keep an eye on her people. She enjoys following her family from room to room, rarely barks unless someone is at the door, and still has plenty of pep in her stepeven chasing squirrels around the yard from time to time. She has shown no food aggression and completely ignores chickens.

Valkyrie took a little longer to settle in, but once she realized she was safe, her loving personality blossomed. She greets her people with full-body wiggles, happily shadows them throughout the house, and keeps everyone smiling with her funny expressions and quirky personality. She's interested in meeting chickens but is more curious than brave, and she's currently working on improving her leash skills. Like Penny, she has shown no food aggression.

Both girls have been wonderful for handling, happily allowing baths, nail trims, and ear cleanings. They appear to be house trained, have had no accidents in foster care, don't chew on household items, and respect baby gates and other boundaries. While they don't currently play with toys or know many commands, they are treat-motivated and eager to learn. One thing they both absolutely love is playing in the hose and snapping at the water on warm days!

If you're looking for two easygoing companions who are happiest simply spending time with their people, Penny and Valkyrie could be the perfect match. They're affectionate, low-maintenance couch potatoes whose greatest joy is being near the people they love. Open your home to this deserving mother-daughter duo, and you'll gain two loyal best friends.

Penny and Valkyrie are new to rescue, and we'll continue updating their profiles as we learn more about these wonderful girls.
PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email.
