Penny's Story
. Most people won't choose Penny.
And we understand why.
Penny is a tiny 8-10 year old hunchback Miniature Pinscher who came to our sanctuary after being surrendered.
She does navigate the sanctuary flawlessly, but
She is partially blind.
She has accidents in the house.
She sleeps most of the day.
And she needs help getting up and down stairs because she simply cannot see well.
Those are not the qualities most people look for when they are searching for a dog.
But here's the part people might miss if they scroll too quickly...
Penny still knows when you're near.
Even with limited vision, she can sense your presence. When someone comes close, her little body perks up because she knows she isn't alone.
And if there is one thing Penny absolutely loves in life...
It's meal time.
For such a tiny dog, Penny is a fantastic eater, and nothing makes her happier than hearing her bowl hit the floor.
She gets along with children and other dogs, but she needs a gentle, patient touch. Most of her days are spent sleeping peacefully like many senior dogs do. But when she wakes up, she gets little bursts of energy and happily moves around the best she can.
The truth is simple.
Penny doesn't need a perfect life.
She just needs a quiet place to rest, someone kind nearby, and a bowl of food she can get excited about.
Could Penny be fostered or adopted? Absolutely.
Would we love to see her find a home of her own? Of course.
But we also know the reality of rescue. Many people will scroll past Penny because she is older, visually impaired, and needs patience.
And if that happens...
That's okay.
Because here at Pattie's Waggin' Tails Senior Sanctuary, dogs like Penny will never be considered an inconvenience.
They are simply dogs who need a little more kindness.
And Penny will always have that here.
If you can't adopt Penny, you can still help her.
Comment "Sweet Penny" so more people see her story
Share this post - her person might be out there somewhere
Sometimes the right person just needs to see the right dog.
