Penny's Story
Meet Penny!

This pretty little pup came to Worthy Dog Rescue after her owner was moving and could not take her. Thankfully, we had a foster home open, and Penny is now learning all about home life with an awesome foster family and their pack.

When Penny first arrived, she was scared and timid in a new environment, but she is making progress and gaining confidence. Her foster mom, Kristy, describes her personality as playful and sweet. Once she warms up, she is very snuggly and loves being close to her people.

Penny is doing great with the other dogs in her foster home and loves playing with them. She would be happy in a home with other dogs, but would be fine as an only dog too since she really enjoys human attention. She has also been calm and uninterested around the cat on the front porch.

Penny is very close to being house trained and has been doing great going outside. She just wants you to go with her! She does better walking with a harness than a collar and is still working on feeling comfortable spending time outside.

Like any puppy, Penny loves her toys and likes to chew on them. She has plenty of playful puppy energy, mixed with a serious love of naps and snuggles. And yes, she has those classic puppy moments when she gets right in your face and won’t stop licking you!

Penny does well in her crate when she can see her people and sleeps through the night in her crate in Kristy’s bedroom. When left home alone in her crate, she gets anxious and will cry and pant by the door. She has toys and a blanket in her crate and is not destructive.

She is still timid with new people and may run away at first, but she is coming around and becoming more comfortable.

Penny is a sweet, playful, affectionate adolescent who needs a family willing to give her a little time to feel safe and confident. She’s such a love and will make a great addition to your family pack.

Apply today!

BREED ESTIMATE: Terrier Mix
GENDER: Female
APPROXIMATE WEIGHT: 11 lbs
APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 11 months
COAT TYPE: Medium scruffy coat
ADOPTION FEE: $425
OTHER INFO: UTD on shots/spayed/microchipped
LOCATION: Charlotte, NC - Coming to DC metro in early Oct

FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted.
