PENNY $200's Story
Hi… I’m Penny.

I didn’t always have a home.
So when I found one… I held onto it with everything I had.

I’m about 2 years old and 50 pounds, and I’ve learned how beautiful the simple things are—soft beds, full meals, gentle hands, and someone to sit beside. I’m the kind of girl who will lean into you, wrap my paws around you in the softest hug, and just stay there like I’ve finally found where I belong.

I’m doing all the “good dog” things—I go potty outside when I’m on a schedule, I walk nicely on a leash, I’m kind with other dogs, gentle with kids, and respectful of cats. I really am trying so hard to be everything someone could want.

But here’s the part that’s harder to say…

When you leave, something inside me panics.
Not because I’m naughty. Not because I want to cause trouble.
But because a part of me is still afraid that when people go… they don’t come back.

And in that fear, I don’t always make safe choices. I try to get to you. I try to find you. I just don’t understand yet that I’m not being left behind.

The people helping me see that I’m not broken… I’m just scared.
They’ve started helping me with medication, and it’s made such a difference. With that support, I can rest. I can breathe. I can stay calm for hours without that panic taking over. I’m learning what it feels like to be safe—even when you’re not right next to me.

I’m still a work in progress.
But I am so worth it.

Because when I trust you… really trust you…
you will have a dog who loves you in a way that is deep, loyal, and unshakable. The kind of love that follows you from room to room, that waits by the door, that melts into you at the end of the day like you’re her whole world… because you are.

I don’t need perfect.
I just need someone who understands my heart…
and is willing to keep showing me that they’ll come back.

Maybe that someone is you.

—Penny

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- (SEE PINNED POST) and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in New Berlin. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$425+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$375+tax for ages 4-7
$275+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number.
