She's gained about 4 much needed pounds and is losing that starvation look of being able to see all her bones though she still needs to gain another 3 to 4 lbs.And this little girl loves to eat, her main food is Natural Balance Duck and Brown rice limited ingredients. She loves the cranberry sauce and the bananas added daily and because she loves these fruits it is also where I hide her pills (antibiotics and pepcid). We also mix in the ground Turkey I cook weekley instead of canned food. Now this girl also likes her veggies I've added, chopped broccoli, green beans, spinach and strawberries. So there is nothing left in her bowl, ever. Yes, spoiled here but Penny knows her 5 star dining will not be expected in her new home. Lol
Her skin has healed up nicely and she has a rich shinny sable brown coat that is so rich to admire and shows how healthy she is now.
Potty training is coming along nicely and she gets to use my back fenced in yard she goes up and down the deck stairs like a pro. When she is taken out to the front yard on a leash she will potty almost immediately and is always ready to come back in and snuggle up to the fire. She is also trained to potty pads if you are not in a position to potty her every 2 or 3 hours. How much more could you ask for?
When it's crate time, she will run to her crate and jumps in, she'll do anything for cookies. Although she's shy and cautious when you first meet her, she warms up quickly with dog cookies. She's definitely a 1 dog home, as although she's improved her attitude with my dogs, it's evident that she isn't interested in wanting to be part of the pack. It took her a full week to start using the dog beds, but now, loves cuddling up and them, and putting her stuffed toys in them. And yes, this week began playing with stuffed toys. So stay tuned and see if Miss Penny would be a good match for you.

3/20/26-My apologies for the delayed update on the beautiful Chocolate brown beauty of a French bulldog Penelope (also known as Pretty Penny). We sprang this girl from one of our favorite shelters where she was picked up as a stray on busy streets, severely under weight, skin infection, and came with no history. She is guestimated as approximately 5 yrs old and although people friendly she's been given some extra time to destress and get spayed, put weight on and settled into a home atmosphere. She's adapting well, though still takes a few minutes to warm up to people, she's very food motivated and after a few treats she becomes your new best friend.
I believe she'd do very well with older children (over 12), or adult home, that understands she hasn't had the best life, as she's also been used for breeding. She can be very reactive towards my dogs, so they can all see each other, it took almost a week to adjust to even being with them in the house. So I really think she needs to be an only dog in her new home.
Pretty Penny is becoming more comfortable, is utterly awesome with getting a bath, and will potty on leash. We are potty training, but if potty pads are down, she will use them.
So think about adding Pretty Penny to your life and check back soon as we learn more about her personality.

3/08/26-Penelope (aka: Penny) is an about 5 year old female French bulldog. She came in from a shelter as a stray that was never claimed. She arrived safely into rescue today thanks to her transport volunteer. Her spay appointment is tomorrow, Monday 3/9/26, & once we get to know Penny & her needs better she will be ready for her new home.
