Peeta's Story

Meet Peeta!
Located in Pittsburgh, PA

Peeta is a 6-year-old affectionate Great Dane who truly believes his best place in the world is right by your side—and preferably as close as physically possible.

His snuggles are world-class, and he happily soaks up all the pets and kisses.
This handsome guy is very smart and absolutely a thinker. He’s food-motivated and clever enough to figure things out—yes, even how to open the trash can.

Counter-surfing is a skill he’s perfected, so a kitchen chaperone is a must.
Peeta adores car rides and loves to play with toys. He’s also a bit of a talker—ask him how his day was and don’t be surprised when he answers you.

Peeta is a ladies’ man—he loves all the women he meets. He can take a little more time to warm up to males and benefits from slow introductions. Best in a home without young children. He displays resource guarding behaviours, and would do well in a home with older children, or adults who understand his needs.

He would do best in a home without cats or small animals, as he has a high prey drive. Peeta has some resource guarding with food and toys, so an experienced, dog-savvy home willing to continue working with him is important.

Peeta is still working on his leash skills. He can be reactive at times but walks very nicely with a Halti. We are happy to announce that Peeta is a graduate of puppy school and knows his basic commands. His intelligence and food motivation has given him a strong foundation to keep building on.

Because Peeta loves so deeply, he does have some separation anxiety. He is crate trained and can also be trusted loose in a room. He is also muzzle trained.

Peeta is currently in his fourth foster home, where he has been given the time, love, and confidence he needed to truly blossom. Thanks to the dedication of his foster family, Peeta is now ready for his forever home.

Above all, Peeta is a deeply loyal companion who bonds strongly with his person. Wherever you are, he wants to be leaning on you, and making sure you never feel alone. If you are strong, confident, patient, and kind, you just might be Peeta’s person.

All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are now in one place: https://linktr.ee/Srgdrr
If donating, please note who or what your donation is for.

Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
