Pedro's Story

Pedro
male
pitbull
36lbs
1 yo
dogs, kids

Pedro was a volunteer favorite at Chicago Animal Care & Control for a reason you can’t always explain with words. He was a shy thing. A sad thing. But also a brave, courageous thing, the kind of dog who kept showing up even when the shelter felt cold and loud and confusing. Our colleagues saw the rainbow within him anyway, inside that low riding brindle magical dragon, quietly waiting for someone to notice the sorcery.

When shelter life started getting to him, a foster stepped up and saved his life. Pedro did what the best ones do when you finally give them a chance: he began to come back to himself. Feeling better, resting deeper, softening more each day, like he’s learning there’s a world where he is safe, cared for, and allowed to become his greatest self. He is a PLEASURE to share space with, let alone a friendship.

Pedro is only 1 year old and about 36 pounds of pure wonder. He’s gentle, sweet, and still unfolding, but he’s well on his way. Pedro is a gift, and the world is genuinely better with him in it.

1) When can I meet this dog?
MCP receives a high volume of inquiries. Pedro is from Mission Compassion Paw Rescue

[Chicago, IL]

Our Mission
MCP is a Chicago foster based rescue focused on dogs who need extra advocacy, including pit bull-type dogs, seniors, animals with special needs, and bonded pairs. We don’t view adoption as placing animals, we view it as welcoming new humans into our Pack. Because of this, our process is intentionally thoughtful and hands-on...
