Pebbles (IN FOSTER)'s Story
Pebbles is an energetic 8# chihuahua/dachshund mix rescued from a hoarding situation. She is approximately 1 year old but still acts much like a puppy. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccines. She is partly housebroken, appears to like potty pads in the house, and walks well on a leash. She plays well with her foster sister who is the same size and stays in her crate during the night and when her foster mom is not there to watch her. Her foster mom has renamed her Dolly, but her adopter can change that.

Dolly behaves typical to her breed background and would do well with someone who has had chihuahuas or dachshunds. Like many tiny dogs, Dolly is a good alarm dog and will not hesitate to defend herself if she feels threatened but loves to sit on her foster mom’s lap and will roll over for belly rubs when let out of her crate “thanks Mom”. She eats twice daily and knows when it gets close to meal time!

This sweet girl is a work in progress and would do best in a calm home without children under 12 years. She could do well with a small dog playmate if they get along at a meet-and-greet. For car rides she does fine in a travel crate. She has not been tested with children, cats, or large dogs but that can be arranged. If you think Pebbles/Dolly could be a happy addition to your family, you can call the shelter to arrange for a meet-and-greet with her and her foster mom. Dolly is hoping Santa will bring her a loving furever home.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to an adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at no additional cost.

No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We do highly recommend and may require you to bring any dogs that reside in the same household, or that will be around commonly if you are meeting a new dog companion.

Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If you’d like to show you’re thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.

Open Adoption Hours:

Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon – 6 pm

Thursday & Friday: Noon – 7 pm

Saturday: Noon – 4 pm

I’m located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.

We can’t wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!
