Peanut's Story

Arnold is just one of many, many shelties in Ohio who come through rescue each year. In 2009, we rescued 45 shelties. Most are adult shelties, 3 years of age and up. To ensure that our rescue shelties have the best chance at a happy, healthy life in their new home, we carefully screen all potential adopters. The first step is to fill out an application. We also meet with all potential adopters at their home. This is not a check to make sure you are a good housekeeper. The purpose of this visit is to get to know you and see the environment in which the rescued sheltie will live. An available sheltie or one of our volunteers' own rescued shelties will be brought on the visit. We also call your veterinarian and verify that your current animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots and receiving monthly heartworm preventative. Our suggested adoption donation is $175 for an adult sheltie, $100 for a senior. In most cases, this amount barely covers the expenses of rehabilitating, neutering, and caring for our rescued shelties.
