Peanut's Story
Beautiful comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors, but one thing we can't deny is a redhead tends to stand out in a crowd. From her petite frame (she's fully grown and only 40 lbs) to her charming smile, Peanut is a happy-go-lucky, honey-roasted pup ready to shine for a family of her own. In the shelter she may seem like an overly energetic girl that might be out of your league, but we all know looks can be deceiving. Peanut's rich copper fur the color your hairdresser would dye for (pun intended), and her resume of life skills is just as impressive! She is the quietest companion on car rides, crate trained, potty trained, and slept soundly all night long in a kennel without a peep! When meeting new (human or canine) friends, Peanut's sweet personality shines through like a candy-coated confection; respectfully playful, non-threatening and non-reactive, happy to have friends or hang by herself. She takes correction beautifully from other dogs (male and female) and would absolutely love to have a bestie to run around and snuggle up with. If no one wants to play though, that's okay, too. Just give her a bone or a rope and she'll entertain herself like a confident, well-adjusted girl you'd never guess has lived her whole life in a shelter! While she may need some continued practice loose-leash walking, Peanut is the supportive friend you'll want to do a 5k or two with this year - walking or running, she'll be there with you every step of the way. Peanut isn't all looks and no brains; she's a clever girl ready to learn and takes treats gently, which will come in handy as she may need to be reminded a time or two that jumping is not polite on the occasion she's just so happy she can't contain her excitement. With a little bit of love and consistency, this sweet little Peanut can be the best thing that ever happened to you and I'm confident once you meet her, you'll know what they say is absolutely true: Redheads are the rarest kind of awesome!
