Peanut's Story

Peanut is currently being cared for by a loving foster family! Here is what they have to say about him:

" Peanut is a handsome, healthy 1-year-old, 52-pounder with a big heart and an even bigger love for his people. Recently neutered, he's a sweet, affectionate boy who truly just wants to please and be part of a family.
From our experience, Peanut is crate trained and mostly potty trained. He walks well on a leash, knows basic commands like sit and come (and sometimes stay), and absolutely loves playing fetch. He's very food-motivated-apple slices are a favorite-which makes him highly trainable and eager to learn.
Peanut enjoys toys of all kinds, especially durable chew toys, and he likes playing with most other dogs. He would likely do best with a calm, mellow canine companion, as highly energetic dogs can sometimes amp up his excitement.
Like many young dogs, Peanut is still learning how to manage his enthusiasm. When he gets very excited, he may jump or nip in a playful way. We've been actively working on this with him, and he's already making progress. With continued structure, training, and maturity, we're confident he'll continue to improve. When he does get overstimulated, settling in his crate helps him calm down quickly.
Because of his size and exuberance, Peanut would do best in a home:
With a fenced yard where he can safely run and play
With an experienced dog owner who understands large, adolescent dogs
Without young children, as he may accidentally knock them over when excited.
We haven't seen him interact with children yet, but given his energy level, a more adult household is likely the best fit for now.
The good news: Team Peanut is covering his adoption fee and will provide a crate, leash, halter, and toys to help him transition into his forever home.
Peanut is a loving, loyal dog who is ready to bond deeply with his person. He just needs the right environment and guidance to truly shine.
If you-or someone you know-might be the perfect match for Peanut, please reach out. We would love to connect and help him find the forever home he deserves. "

As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
