Peanut's Story

Meet Peanut 🥜 — your laid-back little shadow with a heart of gold!

At 8 years old and 22 pounds, Peanut is the perfect “just right” size for cuddles, couch time, and easygoing companionship. With his short red coat and adorable dachshund-like face (paired with his own unique little body!), he’s got a look that’s as charming as his personality.

Peanut is a gentle, low-energy guy who truly enjoys the simple things in life—sunbathing on the patio, leisurely walks, and keeping a watchful eye on his favorite humans from the comfort of his cozy bed. Once he gets to know you, he’ll happily snuggle up beside you or quietly follow along as your sweet little shadow.

He’s friendly with everyone he meets, though he may play it cool at first—unless you have treats, in which case you’ll instantly become his best friend! Peanut gets along well with other dogs but tends to do his own thing rather than joining in the action. He hasn’t been around cats yet, but his calm nature suggests he may do just fine.

Peanut is leash trained, crate trained and learning the ropes of a home routine. He does best with a consistent potty schedule and will let you know when he needs to go out. He’s also making great progress navigating the world despite limited vision—he’s blind in one eye and has reduced vision in the other—but it doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. He’s even learned how to manage stairs (slowly and thoughtfully!) and adapts beautifully with a little guidance.

This sweet boy doesn’t have separation anxiety, isn’t destructive, and is perfectly content just “chilling” near his people. He’s a calm, good-natured companion who would thrive in a patient, loving home that appreciates a slower pace.

Peanut is currently undergoing treatment for heartworms and will be ready to start his next chapter soon. He’s already neutered, has had a dental, and is on the path to feeling his very best.

If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key buddy who will bring warmth, quiet companionship, and a whole lot of sweetness into your life, Peanut might just be your perfect match
