PePe's Story

Meet Pepe
Pepe 3 years old Pit Bull Mix Approx. 48 lbs Neutered Male Available in Shelter
Pepe's story is one of resilience, love, and a deep desire to be close to his people.
At 3 years old, Pepe is the perfect mix of playful energy and affectionate companionship. He has spent time both in a foster home and here at the shelter, and one thing has remained consistent: his love for people.
While in foster care, Pepe also known as Petey truly thrived. His foster described him as a goofy, snuggly companion who never met a stranger. He did wonderfully with dogs, cats, and people of all ages, and loved both long walks and quiet time curled up on the couch. Whether out on an adventure or relaxing at home, Pepe was happiest simply being by your side.
Pepe came to us as a stray, underweight, and dealing with significant skin issues. With consistent care, treatment, and a lot of dedication, his condition has improved greatly and he is now feeling much better and ready for his next chapter. Ongoing skin support is recommended, such as SPF shirts for outdoor time and pet-safe sunscreen on exposed areas when needed, to help keep his skin protected and comfortable.
Now back at the shelter, Pepe is finding kennel life a bit stressful at times. From time to time, he becomes vocal, softly whining or crying when he realizes people are nearby. It is not frustration, but a clear expression of how deeply he longs to be close to someone and have that comfort and connection. The moment he is out with you, whether in the yard or on a walk, he settles in and those sounds fade away as he enjoys the comfort of companionship .
Pepe is a strong, enthusiastic walker and can get very excited on leash. At times during his time in the shelter or at events, he is occasionally supported with calming medication when he becomes overly stimulated, to help him feel more comfortable and settled. With continued structure, patience, and consistent guidance, he has a wonderful foundation and plenty of potential to keep building on his progress.
Pepe's Best Qualities
Extremely affectionate and people oriented (Of all ages)
Social and friendly with other animals including dogs and cats
Lived successfully in a home environment
Loves both outdoor adventures and cozy downtime
Resilient and has come a long way in his healing journey
Pepe is looking for a home that understands his need for connection and can give him the time, attention, and consistency he deserves. In return, he offers a deeply affectionate companionship and a strong desire to stay close to his people, often happiest just being by your side.
Come meet Pepe at Caroline County Humane Society
407 W.
