PePe's Story
Meet Pepe: "Velcro Dog Loves Companionship"
Pepe 3 years old Pit Bull Mix Approx. 48 lbs Neutered Male Available in Foster Care
Pepe's story is one of resilience, healing, and a dog who truly just wants to be close to his people.
At 3 years old, Pepe is an affectionate, goofy companion who forms deep bonds with the people around him. After spending time both in foster care and at the shelter, one thing has become incredibly clear: companionship means everything to Pepe.
While in foster care, Pepe (also lovingly called Petey) thrived in a home environment. His foster mother described him as snuggly, social, and full of personality. He did well with dogs, cats, and people of all ages, and loved being included in everyday life. Whether relaxing on the couch, going for walks, or simply hanging out nearby, Pepe was happiest when he was with his people.
During his recent return to the shelter before entering his new foster home, staff learned even more about just how deeply Pepe values companionship. When left alone, Pepe can become vocal because he genuinely wants company and connection. The moment someone joins him in the yard or spends time with him, he settles almost immediately and becomes quiet, content, and relaxed. Sometimes all he wants is someone nearby to share the moment with.
Pepe especially enjoys yard time and sunbathing. You may find him stretched out in the grass or laying peacefully in the sunshine enjoying the fresh air. Because of his sensitive skin and previous skin condition, he does need some extra protection outdoors, including pet-safe sunscreen and SPF protective shirts to help prevent sunburn and keep him comfortable.
Pepe originally came to us as a stray in rough condition, underweight and dealing with significant skin issues. With consistent care, treatment, and time, he has improved tremendously and continues to look and feel better.
He is an enthusiastic, strong walker who enjoys being active and involved. Pepe would likely do best in a home where someone is around more often, such as a retired adopter, someone who works from home, or a household where he is not left alone for long periods of time. He truly thrives when he feels included and connected.
Pepe's Best Qualities
Extremely affectionate and people-oriented
Friendly with dogs, cats, and people of all ages
Loves companionship and being near his people
Enjoys yard time, and lounging outside
Goofy, social personality
Has lived successfully in a home environment (house trained , crate trained)
Resilient and has made incredible progress in his healing journey
Pepe is looking for someone who wants a true companion dog, the kind of dog who wants to follow you from room to room, relax beside you, and simply be part of your daily life. In return, he offers a best friend, affection, and a whole lot of love.
Currently available in foster care, call to schedule a meet & greet today with Pepe!
Caroline County Humane Society
407 W.
