Patty Husky & Shepherd Mix Edmonton, AB

Hello everyone! Today we’d like to introduce you to a very special little dog named Patty or Baby as she’s known to her foster mama.
Patty was found under a porch with her mom at about 4 months old. It appeared that she had had no human contact for that part of her life and was terrified of people when she first came into care. Because of this, she is skittish, slow to trust, and wary of new situations. But once she feels safe she is so sweet, cuddly, and sassy! She loves to snuggle on the couch and in bed, enjoys running around outside, can play by herself, and has excellent dog skills.

Patty is almost 8 months old and is about 40 lbs. Her overall nervousness causes her to have a bit of a sensitive tummy but she is doing a lot better at communicating when she needs outside. She has been around young kids and just hides from them. She has not been around cats. Patty is also crate trained and likes to have her crate available to her as a safe space when needed.

Her current foster home has done a lot of work in bringing her out of her shell and letting her lovely personality shine through. But she still has a long way to go to reach her full potential.
The ideal home for Patty will have at least one confident dog sibling who she can continue to take cues from and a patient human who is willing to continue working with her. Patty is super smart and thrives on routine. She is extremely food motivated and loves all sorts of fruits and veggies as treats!

Moving to a new home will require slow introductions and visits where she is comfortable. She will need to meet all members of the household. Patty will bond very closely with whoever she chooses as her person but does not show any jealousy or resource guarding.
This all probably sounds like a lot, but the love and affection that Patty will lavish on you is well worth it!
