Patches's Story
Patches is 5 years and what a lover. She loves all people and would prefer to never be without them. Before Patches came to IEBR she didn't have a great life. She was used badly for breeding and we know she has had 8 litters in just her 5 years. She has evidently been abused. She's skittish at loud noises and darts at anything raised. I picked up a cleaning bottle after she'd been with us and she ran in the other room. It broke my heart. She needs lots of calm reassurance and we always approach her with our hand under. She's a total lover and would take a risk with any human to find out if their heart was good. She has the most adorable nub of a tail that can wiggle like nobody's business over just about anything.

With all that Patches just loves to be loved. She would be content to be touched by one of her humans for as many hours as they would allow it. Sitting next to is okay, but paw on thigh or head on thigh or head next to head is even better. The closer the better, but she's not a licker. She just wants to snuggle as much as possible.

One of her funniest quirks is that she grabs her food bowl and carries it to another part of the house. We learned quickly to only have water in a stand! She eats her food so fast that she always carries around an empty bowl but it's typically a sign she's hungry and would like more food. Since she's been underweight, we've obliged.

We have been working on basic training and her separation anxiety. She can not be crated at all. She is currently on medication to help with her anxiety but would do best with an owner that is home majority of the time. She does live with another dog and does great.

Patches had her spay and had complications thereafter with some internal bleeding. She had to be opened up again - 2 surgeries within 72 hours. We thought we might lose her. But this little girl is a trooper. Folks both at the vet and the hospital fell in love with this little love bug.

If you are interested in Patches, please visit our website: www.ilenglishbulldogrescue.org, and read through our adoption criteria to see if you meet our requirements.
