Patches does not have a horrible story like we are so used to writing about, and for that we are so grateful! However, she is one of the many, the countless, that the rescues work tirelessly to find a loving home for.<br/><br/>Patches is a 4 year old purebred Miniature Schnauzer who was owned by a very responsible and caring breeder. Though well cared for, Patches was never able to have puppies, and so needs to be rehomed. Though this will be a sad and scary journey for her leaving the only home she ever knew, we are confident she will thrive in the right home, in her new role as “family member”. <br/><br/>Patches’ current owner says that she is spunky, with a playful temperament. She loves going for walks as well as being around people. She would make a wonderful companion for pretty much anyone, especially for that person looking for a small breed. At 15 pounds, Patches will fit right in anywhere!<br/><br/>It is important to do your research when choosing a breed of dog for your family. Especially when children are involved, as you want a perfect fit so everyone, including your new dog, is happy. Of course, we always stress that NO dog should ever be left alone, unsupervised, with young children until everyone has adapted to the change. <br/><br/>The Miniature Schnauzer, the smallest of the three Schnauzer breeds, is a generally healthy, long-lived, and low-shedding companion. Add an outgoing personality, a portable size, and sporty good looks, and you've got an ideal family dog. Stocky, robust little dogs standing 12 to 14 inches, Miniature Schnauzers were bred down from their larger cousins, Standard Schnauzers. The bushy beard and eyebrows give Minis a charming, human-like expression. Created to be all-around farm dogs and ratters, they are tough, muscular, and fearless without being aggressive. <br/><br/>The Miniature Schnauzer is a bright, friendly, trainable companion but tireless enough to patrol acres of farmland. They get along well with other animals and kids. Minis are sturdy little guys and enjoy vigorous play. Home and family oriented, they make great watchdogs. <br/><br/>Once the decision is made that this breed is right for you, the best part about adopting an older dog is bypassing the puppy stage. While it is an exciting and fun period, it is definitely not for everyone!
