Parker could be that dream come true pup for active retirees who love spending their time with a very lovable and engaging companion. We feel that Parker would also do well with a younger family with dog-crazy kids (7+) who enjoy the fun and companionship that a sweet dog brings to a family. <br/><br/>Parker, at 29 lbs is the perfect portable size to go everywhere a sweet, medium-sized dog is welcome. He is also a great age at 1 year old to be beyond babyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead.<br/> <br/>Parker loves playing and once comfortable in his new home, will be entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to share with his family. <br/><br/>Parker's story is all too common. A guardian who can no longer care for a dog and hasn't made any arrangements for their care is often quick to turn to their local shelter for relinquishment. However, luck was with sweet Parker. He was saved from the shelter due to his adorable looks (these photos don't do him justice), engaging manner and very sweet and loving personality. <br/><br/>Parker was identified as a Labrador Retriever / Beagle mix. Farfel's can't swear to this breed mix as no DNA test was done. This was strictly the opinion of Texas shelter veterinarians. We expect that Parker will have a sleek and cottony-soft coat once he receives a sudsy bath and some great nutrition. <br/><br/>From Parker's foster:<br/>"Parker is a really wonderful house guest! He is totally house and crate trained, good on leash, good with kids and other dogs, loves toys. He was a but nervous / shy at first, but he has blossomed soooo much!!! Just give him a few days to realize he is safe."<br/><br/>Farfel's highly recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) to our adopters. Research overwhelming shows that a natural, real food diet is the best we can do for our dogs. The result is a longer life with far fewer veterinarian visits. <br/><br/>Parker will do well with a family who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure. It can be a neighborhood walk, a visit with friends, a car ride or just an afternoon spending time together on the couch - all would speak to Parker's great temperament and love of his family. Farfel's isn't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home. We'd like Parker to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.<br/><br/>Parker will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. We've requested that he be neutered / microchipped prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Parker's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.<br/><br/>Parker will be arriving on transport in Boulder in mid to late August.
